What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in time is 3:00 PM and check-out time is 11:00.
How old do you have to be to rent a cabin?

You must be at least 21 years of age to rent a cabin.

Do you allow Pets in the cabins or on the grounds?

Sorry, but we do not allow pets. Please see our terms and conditions for additional details.

What is your refund and cancellation policy?

Once we have received your deposit, we mark your vacation days as unavailable on our calendar. A cancellation made with 14 days or more notice from the date of check-in will be given a full refund refund minus a $50 per cabin or 3% cancellation/credit card processing fee (whichever is greater). A cancellation made 3-14 days of your check-in date will forfeit your deposit/payment unless the cabin can be re-rented. Please see our terms and conditions for additional details. Absolutely no refunds will be given to “no shows” or cancellations made within 72 hours of check-in. No exceptions! Please call our office for cancellations or change requests.

How much of a deposit do I need to reserve a cabin?

A 50% deposit is required if booking more than 14 days in advance. The remainder of the balance will be due 14 days prior to check-in. If booking within 14 days of your stay the entire amount is due at booking.

What do I need to do before checking out?
Upon check out, please wash your dishes, move all trash to the outside receptacle, and place soiled towels in the Shower.
Do you allow single (1) night stays?
Two night minimum stay is required unless there is a single night available in between bookings or a weeknight available within seven days of arrival

 

What amenities are provided in the cabin?

Our cabins include: bedding (sheets, blankets, pillows), towels and washcloths, toilet paper, bath & hand soap, dish soap, trash bags, paper towels, toaster, coffee maker, filters, can opener, dishes, glasses, utensils, pots & pans, stove, fridge, central heat & air, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, camp fire pit, wood, charcoal grill, and lawn chairs.

Is smoking allowed on the premises?

In accordance with Illinois laws, smoking is not allowed in the cabins. You are welcome to smoke outside on our porches, but please utilize the ashtrays provided. Please see our terms and conditions for additional details.

What is the closest store for supplies?

Just 2.7 miles down Karbers Ridge Road, near Herod, Illinois is Harbisons Country Market a great little gas station/convenience mart for your basic necessities, including light groceries, deli sandwiches, daily specials, and hand-dipped ice cream. For a larger grocery selection, including produce and meats, try the Super Walmart or Kroger in Harrisburg, Illinois, approximately 18 miles away.

Are your cabins wheelchair accessible?

Due to the natural rugged terrain of the area, none of our property is completely wheelchair accessible. However, our 2 Bedroom cabins are the most accessible, as they have no stairs at the entrance or exit, and are all on one level.

Are there good restaurants nearby?

While there are no chain restaurants in the immediate area, there are some good places to eat locally. For fresh catfish and other favorites, a quaint, seasonal restaurant that floats on the Ohio River, we recommend the E-Town River Restaurant in nearby Elizabethtown, Illinois, or there is The Red Onion in Equality. Multiple other choices including local favorites Mackies Pizza, Morellos Italian Restaurant, and several chain restaurants and fast food, can be found in Harrisburg, Illinois.

The Shawnee Forest Cabins are the perfect cabins for any getaway trip to the Shawnee National Forest. The cabins are the closest cabins to one of the most photographed locations in the state, The Garden of the Gods, and are just down the road from the Rim Rock Hiking and Pounds Hollow Recreational & Swimming areas.
